Nelda Reyes, Principal at AB Cultural Drivers, MA, is a bicultural, bilingual (Spanish and English) consultant and cultural advocate.
In the last ten years Nelda has specialized in culturally-specific program and exhibit development and evaluation for multiyear projects including Latino Network’s Studio Latino (United Way, Oregon Department of Education. 2015) OMSI’s Earth Lab (IMLS 2010-2013) and Renewable Energy (Murdock Foundation, Collins Foundation, et al. 2010-2014), Nanoscale Informal Science Education, Nano Mini Exhibition (NSF. 2011-2014), Portland’s Art Museum multimedia Object Stories and Conversations About Art (2013) and NASA’s LDCM (NASA. 2013).
Currently, Nelda dedicates part of her time advising teams in the development and production of bilingual communication and education projects ranging from exhibitions, audiovisuals, multimedia and face to face programs, which along with her research and evaluation work, feed her interest in cultural advocacy and accessibility.
Presently, Nelda is acting as access and inclusivity consultant in for the K-12 Out of School Time Initiative evaluation team at The Oregon Community Foundation, as a bilingual co-developer for Designing our World, exhibition for OMSI (NSF) an Evaluation Specialist at Latino Network (Americorps) and researcher for Multi-Institution Science Center Impact Study (MISCIS) for the Institute of Learning Innovation/ExposeYourMuseum LLC (NSF, NOISE).
As part of her research and evaluation work, Reyes has led and co-facilitated numerous community participatory research events, focus groups, school district convenings, community events, as well as presented in national and regional conferences facilitating workshops and sessions on evaluation and cultural competence practices. Nelda is a certified experiential learning instructor and a professional stage director.
She has the honor to serve in the Board of Directors at The Circus Project, a social circus organization in Portland, Oregon. Nelda also serves as a Multicultural Evaluation Advisor in the Studio to School Initiative Evaluation Advisory Group at The Oregon Community Foundation, Board Advisor for the Instituto de Cultura Oregoniana (Salem), the Outreach Committee for the Northwest Association of Professional Performers (APP) and the Northwest Regional Latino Theatre Alliance, supporting efforts to enlarge the visibility of artists of minority communities.
